What is all this?

Alright so here’s what is going down. David and Phill will rent that boat from Saturday to Saturday. Each day we normally rise with the sun, have a little brekky, then sail to our activity for the day (snorkeling, a beach, some other cool shit). We then have funs and lunch, and sail to our anchorage point for the night, make dinner & get silly. Generally we sail a few hours a day, and there’s plenty of time to read, relax, nap & recharge before we start drinking heavily and getting rowdy repeatedly. And remember, hangovers don’t exist on boats.

This trip is an excuse for Dave and Phill to take a big sailboat out into a place where there are no rules, get really drunk, and break expensive things. The crew (you) can be as involved or not involved in sailing as you'd like to be. These big boats are typically very stable and you can expect it to be more or less like an RV on the water.

Getting There

Flying into Saint Martin, or Sint Maarteen for the Dutch side, is a super simple flight into SXM and then a taxi across the island to Anse Marcel Marina. People will book their own flights to get to Saint Martin ideally that Saturday morning. If you can’t get a flight that lands before 11am on that Saturday, book a flight that gets in Friday evening or even a few days before and relax for a while. The only important thing is you're on the island with your bags by noon-ish.

Will I die?

Dave and Phill have gone on a number of sail charters together. Notable past trips are the British Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Baja, and of course Saint Martin. Only once have they run out of water or been marooned for more than a week on a remote island. It's totally cool.

Logistics of the Trip

Saturday morning as people arrive we will meet at a restaurant with all our bags to get the group together. Then that group will go out grocery shopping for the trip. Details on that will come. Don’t stress. The group will then bring all the bags and groceries to the Anse Marcel Marina, load the boat, and take off! Besides a little prep, this is a no-thinking-required trip if you don't want to. Just come along for the ride and we'll tell you what ropes to pull.

Pairs of people are assigned to make either breakfast & lunch, or dinner each day. That pair cooks & cleans up for their meal. Once you have your pairs before the trip, you’ll coordinate with your people to figure out what you will be making for your meals. This trip there will be less cooking than usual since we are gonna stop off in towns and eat out more often, so more time for fun!

On the last day we get our shit together, eat and drink the last of what we have, and haul our asses back to the marina. Make sure to book your Saturday flight back to leave after 2pm so we have time to get back to the marina and get to the airport.

Throughout the trip costs will be added to a Venmo group. These costs will include everything for the trip other than flights. When grocery shopping, buying meals off the boat, getting ubers, etc, take a pic of your receipt to add it to the Venmo group. Once the trip is over and all expenses are added (normally a week after the trip), we settle up.
